Ecumenism - Westcott and the Federation

Ecumenism at Westcott House
“The Federation ‘means’ ecumenism. I got involved in joint projects which challenged my beliefs, forced me to encounter difference, and left me with enduring friendships. The first ‘job’ my training incumbent offered me was to be secretary of our local Churches Together group!”
The Revd ANGIE STANTON

A unique dimension of Westcott students' experience is their automatic membership of the Cambridge Theological Federation (new window). The Federation brings together seven different theological training institutions enabling a far wider range of courses and subject teachers (nearly 40) than would be available if each operated alone. The institutions select and form their own students and offer them pastoral care, but most lectures and classes are run on a Federation basis (except those for the Cambridge University Theology Tripos, and Cambridge higher degrees). Students learn from and alongside Roman Catholics, Methodists, Orthodox, Evangelical Anglicans, and members of the United Reformed Church. This is an enriching and challenging context in which to study theology.
