'Building Bridges' at Georgetown University

Two members of Westcott's academic staff, Professor Philip Sheldrake, and Dr Elizabeth Philips, participated in the 16th annual ‘Building Bridges’ Seminar earlier this month, on the topic ‘Power – divine and Human: Christian and Muslim Perspectives’. As part of the Seminar, Professor Sheldrake gave one of two public lectures, and you can view the recording of the seminar here.

Professor Sheldrake is a Senior Research Fellow in the Cambridge Theological Federation, and director of the Institute for the Study of Contemporary Spirituality at the Oblate School of Theology in Texas. Dr Philips is Director of Studies and Tutor in Theology and Ethics at Westcott, and specialises in Christian Ethics and Political Theology.

The three day seminar, held at Georgetown University from 8 May, is part of a long running series bringing together a small circle of Christian and Muslim Scholars for intensive study on themes related to the interface of the two faith groups. Recent topics have included Scripture, prophecy, justice and human rights, and science and religion. You can learn more about the seminar series here
