Cambridge Theological Federation

CertHE/BA/FdA in Christian Theology (Anglia Ruskin)

This degree is offered in partnership with Anglia Ruskin University. It provides thorough grounding in theology with a particular focus on integrating academic study with the discernment of Christian vocation and the practice of ministry.

It is a modular credit based programme leading to the award of a Certificate (120 credits), FdA (240 credits), and honours degree (360 credits). The syllabus provides a broad grounding in biblical studies and theology, as well as the opportunity to reflect on placements and pastoral ministry. For details, see the Cambridge Theological Federation's website (new window).

Assessment for the degree is almost exclusively by essay, portfolio, and project. Traditional exams are used only for biblical languages. Teaching is offered by Cambridge Theological Federation Staff primarily through lectures seminars and classes.

The Anglia Ruskin course is the most flexible way to study theology open to Westcott ordinands. For example, credits from previous theological study can be carried over, and credits earned at Westcott can be taken forward to CME, so that by the end of a curacy, an ordinand can achieve a degree in Theology, even though study has been over as many as seven years and in several centres of learning.

The Anglia programme is highly suited to ordinands over 30 with no previous experience of theology, who will undertake at least 240 credits of study while they are with us and leave with the award of a Diploma in Higher Education. It is also very suitable for independent students, who can do the degree full-time or part time, and who may be eligible for LEA funding and student loans.
