Certificate in Theology for Ministry (Cambridge University)

The Certificate in Theology for Ministry (CTM) is awarded by the Divinity Faculty of Cambridge University. Drawing on the BTh programme, it integrates the rigorous academic study of theology with a focus on pastoral ministry. It provides a broad grounding in theology and biblical studies, as well as the opportunity to focus on areas like liturgy, spirituality, and pastoral theology.

Like the BTh, the CTM is assessed through a mixture of essay and traditional examination, and it also offers the opportunity to submit work on pastoral and denominational topics. It is taught by a mixture of lectures, seminars, and supervisions, but with a great emphasis on class teaching and on small group discussions. Some courses share lectures with the Tripos and some with the Anglia BA in Christian Theology.

The CTM is probably our most flexible programme, and is particularly suited to ordinands with some prior study of theology and to independent students who are with us for one year.
