MA in Pastoral Theology (Anglia Ruskin University)“The MA is a "people thing". A sharing of thoughts, understandings, traditions and life experiences. A gathering of lay and ordained people to explore together and learn from one another” Peter Collins The MA in Pastoral Theology is a postgraduate course which focuses both on the discipline of pastoral theology and the wider relationship between theology and pastoral ministry. It brings together ordinands in training with ministers and lay workers from throughout the region and beyond, and provides a significant opportunity to reflect seriously on pastoral experience. It is an Anglia Ruskin University degree taught by CTF staff. A core module is followed by a choice of modules and a 15,000 word dissertation. Teaching is largely through weekly seminars with guided reading, and assessment by long essays or projects. For further details of the modules available see the Cambridge Theological Federation's website (new window). It is possible to do the MA full-time over one calendar year or part-time over several. The MA is highly suited to ordinands with a prior degree in theology and some pastoral experience, who normally do it part time over two years. It is also a good choice for independent students or sabbatical visitors from abroad who would like to spend a year in Cambridge. The MA is a flexible pastoral theology degree which allows students to reflect upon their own Church, personal and professional life experience; two students (below) talk about some of the work they produced for the MA. |
