Overview
Undergraduate Programmes
All of these courses are suitable for students with no previous study of theology.
Cert HE/FdA/BA in Christian Theology |
A fully modular degree programme in theology with an emphasis on vocation and ministry, awarded by Anglia Ruskin University, and available both full- and part-time. |
Bachelor of Theology for Ministry (BTh) |
A 2 or 3 year, full-time degree, awarded by Cambridge University and taught by both CTF and Divinity Faculty staff. Entry into the two-year version of the BTh is possible for those who have completed study equivalent to the first year of the course or for those who have at least a 2.1 result in a first degree. |
Certificate in Theology for Ministry (CTM) |
A one-year full time (or equivalent part-time) course, awarded by the Cambridge University Divinity Faculty, which allows students to draw on the full range of BTh courses. |
Bachelor of Arts in Theology and Religious Studies (Tripos) |
Cambridge University's undergraduate degree in Theology and Religious Studies: a 2-year course, taught wholly in the Divinity Faculty with a more academic focus than the BA or BTh, and supplemented by a third year with a more pastoral focus. (Normally available to ordinands under 32 with a 2.1 or better in their first degree) |
Postgraduate Programmes
Most of the postgraduate courses are appropriate for those who have a theology degree or substantial prior learning in theology when they arrive. It is sometimes possible to begin a postgraduate course part-way through a student's time at Westcott.
MA In Pastoral Theology |
One-year full-time (or longer part-time) postgraduate award, given by Anglia Ruskin University and taught by the CTF tutorial staff for students with at least two years of previous theological study and substantial pastoral experience. |
MPhil |
A one-year full-time degree, awarded by Cambridge University and taught by the Divinity Faculty, supplemented by a second year with a more pastoral focus. |
PhD |
A three-year full-time (or longer part-time) research degree, awarded by Cambridge University, supplemented by a fourth year with a more pastoral focus. |
Diploma in Theology |
A one-year, full-time postgraduate diploma which draws on teaching for the Tripos, awarded by Cambridge University and taught by the Divinity Faculty, suitable as a kind of "conversion course" from another discipline or to supplement a joint honours degree. |
Post-doctoral course |
Westcott Graduate Studies Programme, an individually tailored pathway combining mentored further research and writing for publication with a ministerial training programme. |
