Overview

Undergraduate Programmes

All of these courses are suitable for students with no previous study of theology.

A fully modular degree programme in theology with an emphasis on vocation and ministry, awarded by Anglia Ruskin University, and available both full- and part-time.

Bachelor of Theology for Ministry (BTh)

A 2 or 3 year, full-time degree, awarded by Cambridge University and taught by both CTF and Divinity Faculty staff. Entry into the two-year version of the BTh is possible for those who have completed study equivalent to the first year of the course or for those who have at least a 2.1 result in a first degree.

Certificate in Theology for Ministry (CTM)

A one-year full time (or equivalent part-time) course, awarded by the Cambridge University Divinity Faculty, which allows students to draw on the full range of BTh courses.

Bachelor of Arts in Theology and Religious Studies (Tripos)

Cambridge University's undergraduate degree in Theology and Religious Studies: a 2-year course, taught wholly in the Divinity Faculty with a more academic focus than the BA or BTh, and supplemented by a third year with a more pastoral focus. (Normally available to ordinands under 32 with a 2.1 or better in their first degree)

Postgraduate Programmes

Most of the postgraduate courses are appropriate for those who have a theology degree or substantial prior learning in theology when they arrive. It is sometimes possible to begin a postgraduate course part-way through a student's time at Westcott.

MA In Pastoral Theology

One-year full-time (or longer part-time) postgraduate award, given by Anglia Ruskin University and taught by the CTF tutorial staff for students with at least two years of previous theological study and substantial pastoral experience.

MPhil

A one-year full-time degree, awarded by Cambridge University and taught by the Divinity Faculty, supplemented by a second year with a more pastoral focus.

PhD

A three-year full-time (or longer part-time) research degree, awarded by Cambridge University, supplemented by a fourth year with a more pastoral focus.

Diploma in Theology

A one-year, full-time postgraduate diploma which draws on teaching for the Tripos, awarded by Cambridge University and taught by the Divinity Faculty, suitable as a kind of "conversion course" from another discipline or to supplement a joint honours degree.

Post-doctoral course

Westcott Graduate Studies Programme, an individually tailored pathway combining mentored further research and writing for publication with a ministerial training programme.
