Parish Missions![]() Over the last two years students and staff from Westcott have been engaged in a number of contextual, parish based mission projects. These projects were designed to be intentionally different to traditional models of mission by focusing on process and sustainability. Over the course of the academic year, students and staff became regular visitors and facilitators to congregations, PCC's and parish strategy meetings, exploring what it meant to do mission alongside church communities and building relationships with congregations. These encounters provided a great learning opportunity for all concerned and bore fruit in the form of a mission week, during which the team from Westcott House and the Parish, worked together to reach out into the local community. The mission week acted as a springboard for further parish outreach programs and focused theological reflection on contextual anglican missiology. These projects have encouraged and embraced a concept of mission which is broad and generous in its approach and one which seeks to extend God's mission to the world through the five marks of mission: proclaiming the Good News of the Kingdom, teaching and nurturing new believers, responding to human need by loving service, transforming unjust structures of society, and striving to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth.
