Visit of HRH The Earl of Wessex

WESTCOTT HOUSE, CAMBRIDGE

VISIT OF HRH THE EARL OF WESSEX

27 APRIL 2017

Westcott House was honoured to host HRH The Earl of Wessex earlier this afternoon. HRH was welcomed by the Principal, Canon Chris Chivers, and the Senior Student, Andy Coates, and joined the community for Evening Prayer in Chapel. Harriet Neil-Stevens, final year Ordinand, gave the homily, reflecting on how Westcott forms Ordinands to ask life's most challenging questions.

The Earl, who is Patron of the House Development Appeal, was present to celebrate the emerging work of the Desmond Tutu Centre on what is South Africa's Freedom Day. Following the service, His Royal Highness saw where the initial phase of the development of the House will begin and spent time at a reception with Westcott’s Staff and Ordinands, taking the opportunity to hear more about the vibrant life of the House.

Commenting on the visit the Principal said: "Westcott is honoured to enjoy The Earl’s active Patronage, and his ongoing interest in the life of the community. With its accents on community leadership, peace-building and conflict-resolution, the work of the Desmond Tutu Centre will build on our core strengths and make a strategic impact at a time of much global turbulence."
