All Saints Church

On the corner of the Westcott House site stands All Saints Church, designed by G.F. Bodley and completed in 1871. It was declared redundant in 1973 and has stood as a challenging symbol of the Church's decline for successive generations of Westcott ordinands. However, in 2006 conversations began with the Churches Conservation Trust (new window), who care for All Saints Church, that have resulted in Westcott starting to use the church again for worship. In fact, we celebrated the Feast of All Saints in the church last year. We now say one of the weekday offices as well as hold other occasional services in All Saints Church, and are planning to use the building – as has happened in the past – for liturgical and homiletic instruction. Students and staff are working together with the Conservation Trust to turn what has been a mark of failure into a sign of new life.
