Dr Frances Clemson

Frances is a Trustee of Westcott House, nominated by Durham University. She is the Assistant Professor in Theology and Ministry at Durham University and was previously a Research Associate at the Faculty of Divinity in Cambridge. She is Deputy Chair of the Common Awards Management Board at Durham. In this role she shares academic leadership of the University’s validation of qualifications in Theology, Ministry and Mission used by many theological education institutions across the country, including in Westcott House and the wider Cambridge Theological Federation. Her research interests include theology and arts, particularly performance art and drama, theological pedagogy, with a focus on embodied learning, feminist theology, and inclusion and belonging within theological education.

Outside of work, Frances enjoys fossil hunting, detective fiction, and walking on the Northumbrian coast.
