Revd Dr Victoria Johnson
Victoria is an alumnus and trustee of Westcott House. She is Dean of Chapel of St John’s College, Cambridge.
Prior to ordination training Victoria was a cancer research scientist at Manchester University, with a degree and PhD in Biochemistry from Leicester University. She then read Theology and Religious Studies at Cambridge University and Yale Divinity School.
Victoria was ordained in 2007 in Manchester Diocese and served her title curacy in the parish of St John the Divine, Baguley, then was Priest-in-Charge of St Michael’s, Flixton. From 2015 she was a Residentiary Canon at Ely Cathedral combining the portfolios of mission and pastoral care and in 2020 was appointed Canon Precentor of York Minster.
Victoria has taught Liturgy and Homiletics to ordinands and lay readers on local training courses in the North West, and has served on national church bodies in the areas of mission, public affairs, environment and evangelism. She is a Tutor for the College of Preachers and a member of the College of Archbishops’ Evangelists. She currently serves on the Mission Theology and Apologetics Group and is a trustee of the National Centre for Early Music, Ryedale Festival and Church Music Society. She has recently published her first book, On Voice: Speech, Song, Silence, Human and Divine (DLT, 2024)
