New Chaplain Appointed
Westcott House is delighted to announce the appointment of the Revd Dr Matthias Grebe, as its new Chaplain from 21 September 2020.
Matthias read Theology, Philosophy and Rhetoric at the University of Tübingen, before coming up to Cambridge for ordination training and a PhD in Systematic Theology. His doctoral thesis looked at Karl Barth’s doctrines of election and atonement, and his current research focuses on suffering and the problem of evil in the work of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. He is the associate vicar of St Edward, King and Martyr, and the Church of England’s Adviser for European Church Relations.
Matthas said: 'I am thrilled and humbled to be joining Westcott House as its new Chaplain, and see it as an immense privilege to serve the community here. At the beginning of this new term, I am looking forward to getting stuck in to the vibrant life of the House, and getting to know staff, students and partners very soon. I am excited to support the flourishing of the worshipping community, in and out of Chapel, and my door will be an open one for all.'
Revd Dr Paul Dominiak, Vice Principal, Westcott House, said: ‘Matthias brings an attractive combination of pastoral, liturgical and intellectual gifts to the role of Chaplain. We are thrilled to welcome Matthias and his family to Westcott House. We eagerly look forward to receiving his ministry and how he will support and encourage everyone in the college to flourish emotionally and spiritually.'
