Julian is Director of Practical Theology and Mission. He oversees Ministry for Life on which he teaches Preaching and Congregational Studies. His taught modules include:

  • BTh52 Practical Theology: Reflective Pastoral Practice Portfolio
  • TMM1447/1451 Foundations for Reflective Practice in Context (Short/Long)
  • TMM2527 Reflective Practice in Context.

Julian is an ordained minister accredited with the Baptist Union of Great Britain.

His research interests are Congregational Studies, Homiletics, Ministry/Leadership Studies, Whiteness and Racism in Theology, Church, and Society, Theology and Practice of Evangelism, and Free Church Studies with special interest in P. T. Forsyth and James McClendon.

Julian follows Brighton and Hove Albion FC and listens avidly to Test Match Special. He enjoys reading the novels of Marilynne Robinson, Ray Bradbury, Barry Unsworth, Nicola Upson, and P.D. James.
